You know what it means…

• giving comfort - this sofa is comfortable.
• feeling at ease - I feel comfortable speaking to you.
• More than adequate or sufficient - He makes a comfortable salary.

Many of us have trouble understanding others but others might have trouble understanding us too. Your grammar may be perfect. You might even use the appropriate vocabulary but it can still be difficult for people to understand what you are saying.
When learning a language, you need to learn how to make certain sounds. This can be difficult and we know that it drives you crazy!
5 tips to help you pronounce English words better:

• Stop and Listen

You will need to learn how to listen carefully. No multitasking is permitted. Focus on what the speaker is saying.

• Learn how to count syllables

Counting syllables is a skill you need to master. Ask your trainer to show you or watch this video for help.

• Stress the right Syllable or Word

Listen for word stress and intonation. Did you know some words can change their meanings because of word stress? For example, Record (re-kerd) is a noun, but Record (ri-kawrd) is a verb.

• Mouth, Lips and Tongue are Essential

Become aware of how to position your mouth, lips and tongue when you pronounce certain words.

• Record Yourself

Record yourself saying the word or sentence with your mobile device. Play it back and compare it to someone else saying the expression.
