Hi, my name is Doug and they’ve asked me to speak to you about living in Spain today. Here it goes..
My first of three questions is, why does a guy like you decide to leave Canada? Which is where I’m from..
So, when I first came to Valencia Spain, it was to visit some friends and also to scope out the city because I do like Spain and I was interested in possibly moving here. It’s a beautiful city, it’s an ancient city and it’s right smack on the sea with fabulous beaches. My favorite expression is, “We are only here once that we know of” so it’s really important that we follow our dreams, and this is one dream that I’m very very glad that I followed.
My second question is, what were my first thirty days like?
Ok, my first thirty days were spent cycling, exploring the city and going to the beach. It was like a vacation, it was like a dream. It was amazing and it was one that I will never forget.
My third question is what are my top 3 favorite things about living in spain?
Number 1 would be the beach. I’m a beach person, I love to swim and Valencia as I mentioned, is right smack on the sea and there are fabulous beaches all along the coastline. The culture, the spanish culture is wonderful um, there’s a relaxed way of life. Even though people work very very hard, they still know how to enjoy themselves and during the summer, the spring, the autumn the streets are full of um uh restaurants that are open onto the street um and people are really enjoying themselves….which comes to the next piece which is the food. The food here is absolutely amazing. Valencia is known for its Paella, which is where it was created, and they make the best paella ever. It is so good. It’s absolutely fabulous. It’s just out of this world.
So, this is Doug for Learning Matters and don’t forget to check out our blog Learning English Matters. Thank you so much, bye for now.
